The graph shows the test result of the stability of the stationary phase with 0.1% aqueous TFA. Retention of diphenyl on C4 columns manufactured by other companies greatly decreases as time passes. This is caused by detachment of butyl groups from the packing material due to acid hydrolysis.
Retention of diphenyl on YMC-Pack PROTEIN-RP is shown to be stable after 500 hours of mobile phase flow.

A Normal Phase Silica Alternative
The YMC Diol-NP stationary phase is a versatile alternative to silica for normal phase separations. The bonded layer's-OH groups provide good selectivity without excessive retention, since hydrogen bonding with the Diol-NP layer is not as strong as one with the silanols on a bare silica surface.
Diol-NP columns also provide better reproducibility when compared with bare silica columns.

Like all YMC silica-based bonded phase, the Diol-NP phase starts with an underlying silica support of exceptional purity.

Designed for Analysis of Basic Compounds
YMCbasic is a unique reversed-phase column designed for analysis of pharmaceuticals and other basic compounds. YMCbasic utilizes a novel silica synthesis and state-of-art silane bonding to create a column which gives true reversed-phase character, high resolution and excellent peak shape for the analysis of basic compounds.

"Neutral" Silica Plus Maximum Bonding Coverage
The silica support used in YMCbasic is prepared by an advanced synthetic process which yields a chromatographic material with proprietary pore size and “neutral” silanols minimize interactions with both basic and acidic compounds. The stationary phase is a monomeric bonding of several different alkyl silanes with chain length of C8 and smaller.

Provides True Reversed-Phase Selectivity
The “neutral” silica support used in YMCbasic exhibits minimal secondary retention interactions so selectivity is true reversed-phase. There are no special surface treatments or exotic endcapping procedures. This means that YMCbasic provides the same general selectivity seen with conventional C18 and C8 columns without basic compounds tailing.

Most Polar Reversed-Phase Column
In a reversed-phase mode, Cyano columns are the most polar and least retentive of all reversed-phase packings.
Extremely hydrophobic compounds, which do not elute on standard C18 and C8 packings with typical reversed-phase eluents, can be chromatographed using Cyano columns.
In addition, the unique nitrile chemistry provides different selectivity from both phenyl and standard aliphatic (C18, C8 and C4) reversed-phase packing. Large pore size 300Å packing materials are also available for the analysis of biomolecules.

Alternative to Silica
In a normal phase mode, Cyano is a bonded phase alternative to silica. Bonded normal phase columns have the advantage of faster equilibration and more uniform surface activity than bare silica gel. To extend column life, continued switching back and forth between normal and reversed phase solvents should be avoided.
